The Maha Sangha

The Sangha of the Blessed One's disciples has entered on the good way;
the Sangha of the Blessed One's disciples has entered on the straight way;
the Sangha of the Blessed One's disciples has entered on the proper way,
that is to say; the Four Pairs of Men, the Eight Types of Persons;
the Sangha of the Blessed One's disciples is fit for gifts,
fit for hospitality, fit for offerings, and fit for reverential salutation,
as the incomparable field of merit for the world.

Strive on.

Those who are new, those who stayed on, those who had left; all of us, have memories etched in the canvas of this family, all of us, are a part of the history. No matter how far we wander, how long we have gone, we are always connected to this wonderful family, in the corners of Ruby Lane. At all times, guided and protected by the triple gems. Singapore Buddhist Mission Youth, strive on.

Remember this?

Any one?

Family

Do you know why the Buddha smiled during meditation? Its because he probably saw in his past life the great times he had with his friends and families and the close bond that he shared and felt great about it. Just like the one in CEP/SBM.

Kathina 2010 Celebrations: A Day of Giving to the Sangha

Kathina Day is the robe offering ceremony that marks the end of the 3 month rains retreat. During the Buddha's time, it's a joyous ocassion as fellow diciples of the Buddha emerge from the forest with greater spiritual attainment under the guidance of Lord Buddha himself. Many of them attain arahanthood during the retreats.

Today, this is a day which we are reminded of the great attainments of monks and nuns. We as lay disciples of the Buddha support the the Sangha by providing clothing and basic necessities. Its a day to practice giving (Dana) and gratitude towards our spiritual teachers for their guidance and support.
